Water in Muir Woods - CD
Environmental Recordings by Jonathan Aaberg
Walking through Muir Woods you are never far from the sounds of water. Thousands of water paths wind their way through the forest, ranging from thin trickles between rocks to cascading falls down rocky streams.
This CD contains a range of sounds as I found them on a hike taken on May 1, 2003. We begin near the junction of the Hillside and Ben Johnson trail where gentle streams look for each other on broad slopes. High on the Dipsea trail a bird sings an elegaic duet with an airplane. This is where the waters part--some to vapor, before the rest crashes down rocky forest streams through the Alpine, Stapleveldt and Bootjack trails. There it returns to the broad gentle stream that welcomes us visitors when we first enter Muir Woods.
